So we talked in our last blog about scheduling in your time to start to add importance into those new habits you want to achieve. One step further into this we need to start to smart schedule, where we realise our precious time and fit in your new habits into the day, as if putting together the jigsaw.
'Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.'
What is YOUR precious time?
First start of by defining your own precious time in the day, sit down and make a time chart through the day, from your usual wake up time till sleep. So what is precious time? That is defined by YOU, what is key in your day that can't be moved. If you're a parent, do you read the bedtime story and put them to bed? Is it a case that your partner and you work different times so those 2 hours there are set for couples activities. Whatever it may be, define your precious times through your day and plan for the week, highlight these times and make them stand out.
Why is this important?
If we're looking to change our lifestyle and introduce these new habits, we already have that battle of breaking a current routine, motivation ourselves and struggling to become better. If we set out to introduce these habits at precious timings during our day, the tasks difficulty becomes tenfold. For example;
So you've said this week you're going to do an hour workout at 7-8pm three times, great until when you sat down to see the how precious your time is it shows that these hours are taken up with playing with your kid/s.
Now from this example, which is going to win the outcome? 9/10 times it's going to be our current routine, our precious time of spending it with your kid/s and not building to start that new lifestyle change your trying to implement of exercising.
Fit the jigsaw together!
What to take away from this? We need to marry our schedule together in harmony. So set out your days and fill in the gaps of your precious time that won't be budged by anything new, that is set in stone. From there start to build in your time activities into the spaces and watch how you'll start to stick to your goals more often, time seems to be more available and things become easier.
