Recipe - Smoothies to start your day with a blast!

October 19, 2015

Rushed for time in a morning? Find it hard to get a good, nutritional breakfast? Well here are a couple of quick, easy and tasty recipes to kickstart your day in a delicious way!

Smoothies are a great way of getting nutrients into our body and can work great as the perfect start to your day. They are quick and easy to prepare, have an everlasting variation and can be consumed on the go. So with that in mind, check out these 2 recipes below and give them a try!

Berry Blast

1 handful frozen berries

1 chopped banana

1 orange, peeled and segmented

3-4 tablespoons greek yoghurt

1 dash of milk (optional dependant on thickness preferred)

Simply mix all these ingredients into your blender and blend until the mixture is smooth. Then simply pour into your glass, flask etc and enjoy! Fancy increasing your protein consumption early? Simply add a scope of your protein powder!

Now with these ingredients I prefer to use frozen berries as they are cheap, easily stored and long lasting so you can keep them for weeks! With the greek yoghurt I go for either the fage total, a great source of protein and a healthy yoghurt or just asda greek yoghurt as a cheaper alternative.

Peanut Banana Boost

1 chopped banana

2 teaspoons peanut butter (or alternative)

1 teaspoon honey

1 small handful chia seeds

3-4 tablespoons greek yoghurt

1 dash of milk (optional dependant on thickness preferred)

Simply mix all these ingredients into your blender and blend until the mixture is smooth. Then simply pour into your glass, flask etc and enjoy! Fancy increasing your protein consumption early? Simply add a scope of your protein powder!

Now if you're not a great fan of peanut butter, there are alternatives out there, one I prefer is to use almond butter. Adding the honey in gives you that bit of nice sweetness and a slightly healthier alternative to just adding sugar itself. The chia seeds are a great addition to this mix and other smoothies you can create, they are fantastic sources of protein, good fats and fibre.
